Euphemisms: now I've seen it all.

Ok, I've heard of visually challenged, handicapped, handicapable, and even handi-abled... But... Visually disinclined? That makes it sound like if I wanted to, I could see.

If it's the post I saw, I thought the poster was kind of being a bit sarcastic. I agree it wouldn't make sense to use it in a serious context, but given the tone of this person's post, I didn't find it offensive. But I could be wrong.

:) No problem. I should have clicked "leave a comment" rather than "reply." The post I'm talking about is in the blindpeople community (I would link to it, but I can't remember if it has an underscore or not...sigh). But this does raise the interesting question of interpreting electronic statements. I don't generally like terms like "visually challenged," etc. But I didn't find this specific post offensive because I thought it was taking a tongue-in-cheak tone. Of course, your mileage may vary. :)

Hmmmmm....
Now I have truly seen it all!

While I didn't take offense to it in the post as the person was obviously visuallly impaired, what is up with that? "Visually disinclined?" Good grief!! Why not call yourself as you are--blind, visually impaired, visually challenged... etc etc... Does this person honestly think that it will either make him/;herself be viewed in a better or different light as opposed to the rest of us that are just strictly "blind?" LOL I mean really... Or was that designed to attempt to get pity from a sighted reader? Who cares! LOL Yes it bites re: the whole images in the box thing. But really! hehehehe ****shakes head**** To each is own I suppose. I do have to say though that one would think that since msn developed a means of getting around that to establish a hotmail account in the first place that this would have carried over to the spam situation describe in the post. That's odd indeed.
