thoughts on a quote

"Manifest yourself. You have not time to occupy your thoughts with that complacency or consideration of what others will think. Your business is simply, "What will my Father in Heaven think."

St. Katherine Drexel

I stole this from lynnskyi, who notes that when she has based major life decisions on what others would think, unhappiness was the result. This also resonates with my experience. It is the most humbling aspect of my faith to remember what tragedy was brought about in my life by worrying about what someone else would think of me if I did or did not do xxx when what I really needed to be worrying about was whether xxx lined up with my faith and general life's calling. In at least one case, I tried to avoid causing disappointment, and I ended up causing a much greater disappointment later.

Oh boy can I ever relate to that.
On the flip side. there have been times I've made choices knowing that others would think me stupid or foolish for making them, or for some other reason didn't approve, but I knew in my heart and spirit were right. And in the end it's turned out for the best. I'm sure you've had similar experiences there, too. hugs.
