my "issue profile"

I told kl1964 the other day that it was important to find middle ground with McCain supportere. I dislike reading bashing of either candidate. I have typically supported republican candidates in the past; but when a family member sent some ultraconservative propaganda around regarding Obama last year, I became intrigued and researched his prior activities. I found that I really appreciated his voting history on certain agendas. And so I learned to appreciate "the other side." It may not always be the case that I vote democrat. My attitude now is really that I have to look at the individual, not the party.

Like someone else who took this quiz, I found the questions dissatisfying. A good deal of what I think about isn't here. But it's generally an interesting line-up of how the party system thinks; and it tells me why I hate the issue of party bashing so much. I don't really fit neatly into one or the other.

Your Issue Profile: 64% Obama, 36% McCain
While it sounds like Obama is the choice for you, he's not a perfect match.
You and John McCain actually share some of the same views.

Whether this is news to your or not, you have some studying to do.
Obama seems like he's the right fit, but it's an important issue might sway you over to McCain.

I hate the whole party system. I think it's a pain, but then again it's human nature to put a label on everything. That's also part of the problem with the politics and the issues. There's so many things that aren't even political that get dragged in.

I just hate politics and the liberal media

Yours came out exactly opposite of mine, our percentages were the same, but mine favored McCain. But I don't think I can vote for him even if I do tend to tow the more conservative line. I liked the general aspect of the quiz, I just wish it went a tad more in depth.

Even though I am conservative, I am like you and don't vote for the party and vote for the person. I took the quiz and my answers were 64 for Mc Caina nd 36 Obama, but that doesn't mean I will be voitng Republican. Like you I have had some well meaning friends and family send me all of the propaganda stuff on Obama and it really has made me mad. Many of these people are "Christians" and that has made me even madder because I am assuming that they think since I am a Christian, I really do not have a mind of my own, so they are just spreading lies as fara as I am concerned and just may vote for Mr. Obama because in my opinion, he has really taken and showed the high road.

I got more garbage from a very well meaning friend this morning, but it is the same old garbage sent in the name of religion and I am really getting sick of that stuff clogging up my in box and making me mad. I am definitely either going to vote for either Obama or the Libertarian candidate Bob Barr who is a real hard core conservative. I don't think he has a chance of even being elected, but it is about choice and i hate all of these labels either having to be a Republican or Democart. What is wrong with just being an American?
