political rant

This election has really tried my patience. I'm tired of reading and hearing biased things--from both sides, I might add. I'm tired of hearing people complain about media bias. Media is always biased in one way or another, especially during an election. If you don't like it, then contribute to the lack of bias with your blog by treating both sides fairly. Bloggers could make a difference. It could happen. People read blogs sometimes more religiously than they read other sources.

Elections
I could not agree with you more. I think I am more aggravaged with the mindless McCain supporters than I am the Obama supporters. News has always been biased and some of these people just need to get over themselves and the one that cracks me up the most is Fox Nes that alwasy says fair and balanced and there is absolutely no such animal. They are just a mouthpiece for the Republican party and nothing they report is either fair or balanced. I am just ready for it all to be over and done with because it has gotten nastier than it needs to be and more expensive than it ought to be as well. If they would take some of that money and use it for the homeless and people that cannot afford their bills because of the crappy economy that Bush and his cronies have put us in, we would be much better off.

Re: Elections
Unfortunately I have gotten disgusted with the emails from the Obama campaign asking for $5 here, $25 there. And i haven't dropped a dime. That may sound bad, but I think that people need to use their brains and it should not take huge media campaigns for them to do it. I am voting for Obama because his health care and disability policies are well thought out, and I think he takes time to do his homework. But I think that in general some things need to change about the way that presidential campaigns are run.

Regarding the media, I've just stopped reading much of it because I cannot find anything objective.

Re: Elections
I have to agree. I have not gotten the letters or emails wanting me to contribute, but agree that we need to do something different with health care and other things including our domestic policies. I think that some of our foreign policies are really skewed wrongly too. I agree that we need to take a long look at the election process and drastically change it. There is way too much money spent and too much time to do it in. I like the way that the Canadians do it. Theri process is six weeks from start to finish and personally I think that is plenty long enough.

While I certainly agree that the fund-raising Emails are annoying, they are also necessary. What we are looking at in this election cycle is something radically different than anything we've ever seen before. It is definitely a potential paradigm shift. Barack Obama has proven that the "little guy", giving in small amounts, can make a huge difference. Millions of people giving $25 can have even a larger impact than a few lobbyists or coroporations giving large sums, and then expecting favors in return. I gave $25, and I have to say that has made me feel empowered beyond any feeling of political empowerment I've ever felt. I really do feel like I'm part of something big. A small part, to be sure, but a part nonetheless, and I have a lot of company. That, to me, is the ultimate definition of grass roots. So, while those Emails may be annoying, they also serve as a call to action, a statement that even those of us who are not blessed with huge amounts of money or influence can make a difference.
