sadly, everything you've said is true. a lot of people open their mouths without thinking things over first and try to "get back" at the other person instead of trying to talk it about it calmly like a rational person.

but, kids are an exception, I suppose, if they've not been taught this.

every situation is unique in its own way. hopefully, someday, people and/or groups of people will stop having "ism" complexes...
