I am told that whatever I ask in the name of Jesus will be done, and I am commanded to pray as if I have already received. For three years this has seemed ridiculously impossible. I have no guarantee that God will give me what I want just because I ask with the name of Jesus.
There is where my error is. Asking IN the name of Jesus and asking WITH the name of Jesus are two entirely different things. I will never ask anything in His name if I am not abiding in Him and He in me. When my heart is focused on Jesus, I will know the will of God as he did. Then I will ask as he would ask; I will ask IN his name. What I ask will be done because my heart will be his heart, and I will not desire or ask anything that is not in the will of God. Thanks for that answer, Lord.
