Reconstructed entry... I was losing my voice almost daily during this spring. No cause was ever discovered. I went to the doctor, and he asked if I smoked! Mom believed that I was faking it. I generally woke up with no voice and recovered it by mid-day by forcing air up through my throat so that I could speak and order my lunch and sing.
I was growing to like Texas history, mostly because the teacher was on my trusted-teachers list. She wrote amusing test questions, which I remembered and recorded in my journal. Most of the class did not care about doing the work, and I was proud of the fact that I did well and pleased Mrs. B. Texas history was my first class during the day, and Mrs. B. always gave me a hug and cared that I didn't have my voice.
