a thought about the Church of God and nonsectarianism

Those final decades of the nineteenth century often witnessed bitter doctrinal debates and denominational competition so vigorous that often no one was thought to be a Christian unless belonging to the "right" denomination. (Barry Callen in Following the Light, pp. 22-23)

Maybe this was once "good news" for people. I now see it becoming divisive in its own way. You have to "come out" or you are not really a Christian; and you have to "come out" to the right nonsectarian group. I believe that the Church of God needed to reevaluate its strategy for this reason, and getting involved with ecumenism is appropriate at this time in history.

Since my cats kept me awake half the night and have been fighting this morning and it's going to storm today, I'll post some cat facts for your amusement.

morning's doings

Two cats FURminated. Dogs tugged with. One breakfast casserole made that competes nicely with Bob Evans' pot roast hash. C ate three bowls--and it has veggies. Now time to do some homework before the storms come--and they are on the way.

how I'm feeling

I am certainly feeling better!

I can tell because I am scanning theology and doing Hebrew at the same time. I talked to my advisor today, and he said he could tell I was feeling well.

So far, I am experiencing some increased congestion since starting the Sulfasalazine. This would be consistent with my generic salicylate response. We will see how much I can tolerate and what I can do to stay clear. I really may have to get very serious about the diet if I am going to stay on this med.
